Essays on the 'Lancelot' of Yale 229

Ten essays aim to introduce Yale 229, which contains the three final narratives of the Prose Lancelot (L'Agrauain, La Queste del Saint Graal, and La Mort le Roi Artu) to the scholar and Student through a variety of approaches. The reader is invited to view the process of manuscript production and to dismantle and reassemble the codex, with its text and decoration; to consider authorship of the Lancelot and the stylistic choices of two of its scribes; to observe how narrative and image are referential and how images may reverse the narrative and even themselves; and to consider pertinent contextual issues using theoretical and traditional approaches.
