The Academic Alliance for Reconciliation Studies in the Middle East and North Africa I. Edited by Davide Tacchini, Zeina Barakat, Iyad AlDajani and Martin Leiner. The refugee flows triggered in many areas south of the Sahara reaching the countries of North Africa and the Middle East first, before some of the refugees reached Europe. Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt received large numbers of refugees; others, such as Morocco and Libya, turned from transit states into countries shaped by the refugees' presence in a variety of ways. In this volume, scholars working primarily in these countries provide an overview of their perspectives on how refugees are treated.
